Taylor Swift: A cocktail for every era

Summer Cocktail

To celebrate the eagerly awaited release of The Life of a Showgirl, Falstaff took a closer look at which cocktails best embody previous eras.

The wait is over: After much speculation and fan theories, Taylor Swift's latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, is here. To celebrate, Falstaff took a closer look at which cocktail pairs best with each of Taylor Swift's albums and "eras".

Debut – Mint Julep

Fresh, light and unadulterated: that's the Mint Julep. The drink is a hit in the Southern United States and oozes country vibes – just like Swift's first album. The mint reflects the freshness of her early songs, the hint of sweetness the romantic lyrics of her early career.

Fearless – Silver Gin Fizz

Effervescent and sparkling, just like Swift's youthful, romantic era. The light, sparkling Silver Gin Fizz reflects her youthful energy and sense of freedom permeating this album.

Speak Now – La Vita Rosata

Passionate – that's La Vita Rosata in a nutshell.  Just like Taylor's self-confident, emotional era. The fruity, pink-colored cocktail is full of drama, heart and elegance – the typical vibe of Speak Now.

Red – Aperol Fizz

Tangy, bittersweet and vivid – like the contradictory feelings of this era. The perfect companion: Aperol Fizz, a drink that combines lightness with melancholy to capture the mixture of heartache and euphoria of Red.

1989 – French 75

Elegant, sparkling and full of glamor – just like Taylor's first major pop moment. The blend of champagne and gin found in a French 75 perfectly captures the glitz, energy and sparkling cosmopolitan feel of 1989.

Reputation – Negroni Svegliato

Strong, dark, and sophisticated – like Taylor's powerful, mysterious Reputation Era. The bitter depth of the drink is fascinating, as is the interplay of image and provocation, while the elegant twist emphasizes the artistic maturity of this phase.

Lover – Virgin Island Ice Tea

Gone are the dark days of the Reputation era – Lover is emblematic of  happier times. A delicate, non-alcoholic iced tea with a breezy lightness perfectly captures the romance, warmth and sky-blue optimism of this album.

Folklore and Evermore – Golden Savage

Warm, earthy and refined – like the introspective Folklore and Evermore eras. The golden hue of the drink symbolizes the poetic depth and autumnal mood of the albums, while its spiciness captures the complex emotions.

Midnights – Stoli Espresso Martini

According to Swift, this album was inspired by 13 sleepless nights and revolves around a wide range of emotions. What could be more fitting than a classic espresso martini? Dark, strong and wakeful – just like the mysterious, pensive Midnights era.

The Tortured Poets Department – Zacapa Old Fashioned

Strong, complex and elegant – just like the dark, reflective mood of this era. The Zacapa Old Fashioned combines depth and sophistication, perfectly reflecting the lyrical intensity and emotional facets of The Tortured Poets Department.

The Life of a Showgirl – Whiskey Sour

Complex, flavorful, and expressive: The whiskey sour is the perfect counterpart to Swifts's latest Showgirl era. Admittedly, the drink may not be the first choice when it comes to representing the album. But since she showcases the cocktail in one of her new songs, no other drink is better suited for the job. Cheers!
