Lobster, crêpes suzette and spaghetti gildo - prepared live at the table. Following a multi-million Franc renovation, Le Grand Restaurant at the Gstaad Palace has a fresh new look.

After a comprehensive redesign, the culinary heart of the famed Gstaad Palace has made a resplendant comeback. Having closed between March and June 2025 for a complete overhaul, the renowned Zug-based architects Fischbach & Aberegg were charged with the facelift, having  already caused a stir with their design of La Grande Terrasse in 2023.

Around 3.4 million Swiss Francs were invested in a new interior for the main restaurant. The result: Timeless elegance characterized by warm materials, classic design and carefully curated historical details. "Fischbach & Aberegg have once again created a design with great care that does justice to our history while also capturing the spirit of the times," emphasizes Andrea Scherz, the General Manager and third-generation owner.

Le Grand Restaurant also remains true to its culinary roots. Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh and his 55-strong team continue to focus on classic dishes with substance. There are 75 items on the menu, including signature dishes prepared directly at the table – incliuding their legendary Châteaubriand, spaghetti gildo or flambéed crêpes Suzette. The tradition of service à table – a rarity today – is proudly maintained here and seen as a central feature.

A house for Gstaad

The Le Grand Restaurant is not just an exclusive destination for hotel guests, but also a popular meeting place for locals, whether weddings, anniversaries or simply for a stylish evening. "Our restaurants have always been open to locals. The new design is intended to further emphasize this openness and offer an ambience that is just as inviting to stylish hospitality as it is to a lively connection with the region," says Scherz.

The family-run luxury hotel rises out of the beautiful Gstaad landscape like a fairytale castle.
