Mjonøy AS – Vinje, Norway

Sourdough bread from a wood-fired oven, cinnamon buns infused with cardamom – at the small bakery Mjonøy in the heart of Telemark, Norway, everything revolves around simple, traditional baking. Nestled among old log cabins by the river, the bakery operates just a sit did in days past: by fire and by hand. Wonderfully hyggelig!

Keit – Berlin, Germany

At Keit, all ingredients are sourced from within a 100-kilometer radius, supporting local farmers and emphasizing regional sustainability. What makes it truly unique? Its Kreuzberg branch has a counter crafted from millstone and Douglas fir instead of a traditional display. Meanwhile, the Friedrichshain location features actual wheat growing right in the middle of the store – bringing farm to table to a whole new level.

Cédric Grolet Opéra – Paris, France

It's hard to scroll through social media these days without spotting one of Cédric Grolet's masterpieces. His hyper-realistic fruit tarts with creamy centers have taken TikTok and Instagram by storm, captivating audiences around the globe. But the appeal doesn't stop at the desserts –the Paris flagship café is a visual delight in its own right, with an interior design as meticulously crafted and elegant as Grolet's iconic pâtisseríe.

Taegeukdang – Seoul, South Korea

Founded in 1946, shortly after Korea's liberation, Taegeukdang is Seoul's oldest bakery – and the birthplace of Western-style baking in the city. While the recipes are rooted in classic French doughs, they've evolved with a distinctly Korean twist: think croissants filled with sweet bean paste or pumpkin. Stepping inside feels like stepping back in time. The understated interior, with its subtle retro charm, creates a serene atmosphere, offering a sanctuary from the bustling energy of modern-day Seoul.

Poilâne – Paris, France

Step inside and you're greeted by the comforting aroma of rye and a wood-fired oven. Poilâne is one of Paris's oldest family-run bakeries, and prides itself on preservering traditional craftsmanship for nearly a century. Since 1982, the bakery has been located on Rue du Cherche-Midi in the 6th arrondissement. Today, Apollonia Poilâne, the third generation of the family, continues to carry forward the legacy with the same artisanal spirit and dedication.
