Geranium's Julian Stieger will be the new chef at Rote Wand in Lech

The former chef de partie of Geranium, ranked number one among the 'World's 50 Best', will succeed Max Natmessnig's at Rote Wand - Chef's Table in Lech, Austria from October.

At the Rote Wand - Chef's Table in the Austrian mountain resort of Lech, there will be a new face from October. Chef Max Natmessnig, who announced in April this year that he would soon be setting off on new adventures, and the exquisite restaurant announced on Instagram at the weekend that star chef Julian Stieger, who at 28 already has a considerable list of the best cuisines in the world to his name, will be his successor.

World class

Stieger was most recently chef de partie at Geranium in Copenhagen, which took first place this year in the respected 'World's 50 Best Restaurants' list. He has also worked at Eleven Madison Park in New York, Steirereck in Vienna and Landhaus Bacher in Mautern an der Donau, Lower Austria. He describes himself as "calm, passionate and very ambitious", according to the Instagram post. How this description will influence the culinary style at Rote Wand - Chef's Table remains to be seen.
