Longest Schnitzel: New World Record from Switzerland

Swiss start-up Planted has set a new Guinness World Record with its plant-based schnitzel that measures 119 metres.

After opening a purely plant-based restaurant with the restaurant Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world according to Guinness World Records, the Swiss start-up Planted is now setting a world record of its own - with the longest schnitzel in the world. This is not a traditional Austrian schnitzel made of veal, but a vegan one based on pea protein.

The record schnitzel, with a total length of 119 metres (390 feet), was presented at the opening ceremony of the new Planted production facility in Kempthal, Switzerland. This surpasses the previous record by more than eleven metres. The Planted team – founders Lukas Böni, Pascal Bieri, Eric Stirnemann and Christoph Jenny – prepared for the big day for over three months, producing, breading and deep-frying for a total of ten hours.

The successful world record also marked the presentation of the latest product in the Planted portfolio. "For this launch, we wanted to do something special. We wanted to show that it is possible to produce a nearly 120-metre-long schnitzel based on pea protein sustainably and without animal suffering," says Pascal Bieri, co-founder of Planted.

Planted products are mostly sold in Germany and Austria. The schnitzel been on the menu at the traditional Viennese restaurant Figlmüller since June, and further restaurants in Switzerland, Germany and Austria are planned.
