Maison Perrier-Jouët Unveils an Exceptional Collection of Vintages

The iconic Champagne house is releasing a distinctive collection of vintage cuvées from the house’s Oenothèque, which will be sold at Christie’s this December.

The legendary Champagne

On December 2 and 3, the exceptional sale of Perrier-Jouët vintage cuvées will take place in London, associated with unique VIP experiences at the home of the Champagne House in Epernay. Maison Perrier-Jouët Cellar Master Séverine Frerson, the first female cellar master in the 200-year history of Maison Perrier-Jouët, is opening up the Oenothèque Perrier-Jouët, the House’s reserve of vintage Champagnes, and offering a selection of outstanding cuvées, including the legendary 1874 vintage and a rare trio of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque cuvées.

The landmark sale, which follows the announcement of a two-year global collaboration between Christie’s and Perrier-Jouët, is the tribute to the wine legacy of Maison Perrier-Jouët. The renown 1874 was blended by Charles Perrier, the son of the founder and made from Chardonnay grapes from Cramant, one of Perrier-Jouët’s most prestigious vineyards.

At Christie’s in 1888, the Champagne established the record for the most expensive Champagne ever sold at auction and this year, it is expected to achieve $20,000.

The first female cellar master

After studying oenology, Séverine Frerson worked for different Champagne houses including Piper-Heidsieck, where she became the house’s cellar master. In October 2020, she was given the key to Eden, the cellar that contains the maison’s rarest vintage cuvées including the few remaining examples of the 1825 vintage, the oldest Champagne in the world.

At Christie’s auction this December, Séverine will introduce:

  • Perrier-Jouët 1874 and 1964 (75cl)
  • Perrier-Jouët Blason de France 1976 and 1979 (1.5l)
  • Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2004 (75cl)
  • Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1979, 1982, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 1999 (1.5l)
  • Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 2000 (3l)
  • Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs 2002 (75cl)
