Europe on a Plate: Discover Authentic Cuisine from the ESC Countries in Vienna
When Vienna becomes the centre of the Eurovision Song Contest, Europe comes together in culinary terms, too. We have a selection of restaurants serving authentic regional dishes.
When the Eurovision Song Contest returns to Vienna in May 2026, the city will once again become a stage for Europe. Vienna has long reflected the continent's musical and culinary diversity. As you eat your way through the city, you can travel from Lisbon to Tbilisi without ever leaving the district.
The Viennese gastronomy scene has become much more diverse in recent years. Alongside the traditional bar culture, an increasing number of restaurants have emerged that specialise in specific national cuisines.
The ESC provides the perfect opportunity to experience the diverse culinary traditions of different countries.
Finland: Ihana
With »Ihana«, Finland has also secured a permanent place on Vienna's culinary map. Expect cinnamon buns, cardamom biscuits and the aesthetics we know from Helsinki. The focus is on the sweet classics of Finnish coffee culture.
Australia: Billabong Australian Pub
The »Billabong Australian Pub« brings a taste of Australia to the heart of Vienna. The menu features classic pub fare, including juicy burgers, fish & chips, and steaks, as well as a selection of international beers and Australian wines.

Georgia: Krazy Khinkali
The addition of the »Crazy Khinkali« to the menu has expanded the selection of Georgian cuisine in Vienna. Khinkali, a traditional Georgian dish, are usually folded and served hot. They are eaten with the hands: first you sip the aromatic broth, then you bite into the filling. As well as the traditional version, there are also modern variations.

Greece: Kafeneon
The »Kafeneon« on Yppenplatz demonstrates how modern and sophisticated Greek cuisine can be in Vienna. Rather than grilled dishes, the focus here is on fine meze with plenty of vegetables, pulses and select ingredients. However, there are also holiday classics such as fava, Gigantes and moussaka.

Italy: Pizzeria Madre
Located in the Nibelungenviertel, the »Pizzeria Madre« is within walking distance of the Wiener Stadthalle, the venue for the Eurovision Song Contest. It is one of the places where you can see how seriously Italian cuisine is taken in Vienna. The dough is given time to prove, and you can choose whatever toppings you like. The result is light, easily digestible pizzas topped with carefully selected ingredients.

Portugal: Senhor Vinho
The »Senhor Vinho« in Margareten is considered one of the most reliable places to enjoy Portuguese cuisine in Vienna. There is no fixed menu, but the daily specials are explained personally at the table. Classics such as bacalhau, grilled octopus and fish stews are paired with a selection of Portuguese wines. In the evening, the restaurant often becomes a stage for fado.
