Houses of Parliament restaurant temporarily opens to the public

The Peers’ Dining Room will be available for lunch and dinner bookings for a limited time.

It will only be open to the public for three days, but if you’re in London in the next week then you have the chance to live like a Lord for a few hours: the Peers’ Dining Room at the Houses of Parliament is open to all over the Easter recess.

The restaurant will welcome the general public in what has become a tradition during the Easter recess, with visitors able to book on Tuesday to Thursday, April 4-6, for lunch (12pm-4pm), and also for dinner on Thursday April 6 (5.30pm-8pm).

It has been labelled a fine dining experience with the three-course Spring menu costing £54 per person, including coffee and sweet treats to finish. Details of what is being served are still to be finalised, but in the past it has included traditional fayre such as potted crab, beef tongue and ox cheek.

What you’re sure to find, according to those that have dined there, is a setting like no other, with stained-glass windows and a venue steeped in history, an experience you’re unlikely to forget, unless you’re already a sitting member of the House or related to one.

The House of Lords is the second chamber of the UK Parliament, sitting yards from the House of Commons where the Prime Minister and his colleagues gather to debate policy of the government.

Booking is essential and full details are available here.
