New rooftop bar and restaurant opens at Battersea Power Station

Located within the recently opened Art’otel in Battersea Power Station, JOIA offers Portuguese-inspired flavours as well as stunning views.

JOIA, meaning ‘jewel’ in Portuguese, is located across the 14th, 15th and 16th floors of Art’otel. The 14th and 16th floors hold JOIA’s bar and rooftop space, while the 15th floor is dedicated to its restaurant. The menu has been carefully curated by celebrated chef Henrique Sá Pessoa – his first London venture – and blends Catalonian and Portuguese flavours using fresh British produce. Pessoa also runs tapas restaurant Tapisco and the two-Michelin-starred Alma, both in Lisbon. Dishes available at JOIA include tapas designed for sharing, such as hand dived scallops with aioli and Iberico croquettes, while monkfish and red prawn stew and braised Iberian pork cheeks are just two of the large plates.

Above and below JOIA, guests looking to enjoy just drinks can enjoy a similarly inspired cocktail menu, created by manager Alessandro Mannello, which features plenty of tequila, mezcal and rum, plus a wine list focusing on both Spanish and Portuguese bottles. There is also JOIA’s own twist on sangria, which uses white port and agave nectar. The drinks menu is available both at the 14th and 16th floor bars, and visitors can enjoy small snacks and tapas at both. Although the views from the rooftop area are expected to draw the most crowds, the lower 14th floor bar will be hosting regular live entertainment on weekends.

Art’otel Battersea Power Station officially opened to guests in February 2023, and features 164 rooms, each designed by Spanish interior designer Jaime Hayon. Within the hotel, TOZI Grand Café was the first to open on the ground floor. Guests staying at the hotel can also experience its 360-degree viewing platform, spa and rooftop infinity pool. Art’otel is located within Battersea Roof Gardens, where the entire area has seen redevelopment over the last few years to create the newly reimagined Battersea Power Station, complete with a plethora of shops, restaurants, bar, green spaces and entertainment. Inside, visitors can head to Lift 109, which travels up one of the chimneys to provide sweeping views over London, or enjoy a drink in Control Room B cocktail bar. Alongside the redevelopment, Battersea Power Station is now fully connected to the rest of London via the Northern Line at its eponymous tube station.
