Copenhagen’s dynamic duo, Riccardo Marcon and Youra Kim, are opening an intimate new offshoot of their much-loved Korean-inspired restaurant. In contrast to Propaganda’s buzzing, high-energy vibe, Next Door offers a quieter experience, driven by Kim’s daily market finds and instinctive cooking.

Copenhagen's much-loved Propaganda is entering a new chapter – one that feels both organic and deeply personal. While the main restaurant hums with energy, chef Youra Kim, and restaurateur Riccardo Marcon will open Next Door at Propaganda: A quieter, more intimate dining room where Kim's instinctive, memory-driven cooking takes center stage, inspired by the market of the day.

“It’s like inviting people into my own home,” she says. “The cooking will be rooted in Korean flavours but shaped by all the places I’ve been. It’s quiet, personal, and full of heart and spice.”

The new dining room occupies what regulars may remember as Propaganda’s “bottle room,” now reimagined as a pared-back, calm setting for a single set menu each evening.

Guests can expect a set menu each evening (DKK 450), with dishes such as ssam with raw squid and beetroot kimchi, courgette caramelle with doenjang, or bibimbap with cured shrimps, alongside the option to add Propaganda’s famous Korean chilli-fried chicken. The drinks program will be curated by sommelier Francesca Niro.

For Marcon, this evolution is a way of adding depth to the Propaganda concept rather than dividing focus. “It’s more of a natural next step – an evolution rather than a reshuffle. It grows from a desire to share something more personal, with a slower rhythm and a more intimate approach. Yes, like stepping into Youra’s living room to share a meal together.”

Meanwhile, Propaganda’s main dining room will remain its lively self, now led by chef Sourya Chansavang, who has worked at Propaganda alongside Youra Kim for two years and whose French-Laotian roots bring a new dimension – while keeping favorites like the chilli-fried chicken and the self-guided wine experience alive. Together, the two rooms will create a layered dining experience: one vibrant and buzzing, the other personal and deeply reflective. Next Door at Propaganda opens on September 24th.
