Winklers Chef's Table
Christian Winkler and his refined cuisine have finally arrived in the intimate and historic setting of the old town hall. An enjoyable experience in twelve courses with corresponding drinks.
Christian Winkler has arrived. Prior to this, the chef and his brother Markus - trademark "Gebrüder Winkler" - experienced an odyssey around Kitzbühel, accompanied by long-term disputes with landlords. "Schindlhaus", "Schwedenkapelle", "Neuwirt" and finally "Auwirt". When the lease remained the same there despite lockdowns, they had had enough. They ran a food truck and Christian Winkler's cooking was only available at catering events. Markus became a sommelier at the "Mocking" in Kitzbühel. And now: A new start for Christian without his brother, but with his wife. Winkler was able to install a U-shaped chef's table in the picturesque "Rattenberg" in the old fortified tower - similar to Joschi Walch's "Schualhus". Unusual: the Chef's Table is normally only held from Friday to Monday, starting at 2 pm. Exclusive bookings can also be made in the evening. The menu is a "carte blanche", with a dozen appetisers to start, such as beetle bean falafel or duck ravioli with morels. This is followed by six courses in which Winkler sets himself no limits. First an excitingly good flambéed fillet of veal with artichokes and kohlrabi. Then a great classic: Breton lobster in bisque. A gratinated Kirchbichler char is followed by regional lamb of a quality that you never get privately: pink back and braised shoulder. Sigrid Winkler, who moved from the law school to the Sommelerie, served matching wines. Or you can bring your favourite bottles - "BYO" is expressly encouraged. The all-inclusive price: 269 euros. This takes place on the first floor, with pizza, snacks and cakes available in the day bar on the ground floor. A new gourmet address in the Inn Valley.
