One small region is making a big name for itself, and that is the beautiful island of Mallorca. A quality revolution has swept through the Balearic island in the last 30 years or so, making it one of the most exciting and thrilling wine-growing regions in Spain. One trigger was certainly the founding of the Macia Batle winery in 1996 by the Batle family, who can look back on a 160-year history of winegrowing on the island. Today, the winery is an established name. However, this alone was not enough for the two brothers Miquel and Matias Batle. They founded their own business in 2002 in the village of Biniali in the heart of the island and proudly opened their own winery in 2005. It was enough for them to acquire 14 hectares of parcels in this very area, which are preferably planted with very old vines. From the very beginning, they have focused on careful and sustainable cultivation of the vineyards, which are now cultivated without the use of any chemical substances. Some of the wines have even become purely organic in the meantime. The winery itself in the village of Biniali in the Binissalem region is one of the most spectacular wineries in Mallorca. Nothing is hidden from view here, as the use of plenty of glass means that you can see the winemaking process everywhere. But this alone does not create first-class and unique wines. The blends with their fascinating mixture of local and international grape varieties that leave the house here are full of excitement. Here, Mantonegro and Callet meet Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, or the white Prensal Blanc meets Chardonnay. Ever since Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave the wines a high rating, they have been among the most sought-after on the island. Unfortunately, the production is small, so you can be happy about every bottle.
