"Tausendweiss" - this is the name under which the unusual idea was born in 2006: Karl Fritsch and the Bavarian wine merchant Guido Gottwald began to make wine together according to the motto: "Nobody needs it, but everyone will want it."
The parameters were clear from the outset: no great focus on varieties, but on typicity, provenance and tradition, a maturation period of three years in wooden barrels - and only in years that offer the prerequisites for a great wine. Furthermore, great importance is attached to physiological ripeness and biodynamic cultivation, so that this wine, with only 12.5% alcohol by volume, can be counted among those wines that meet the strict and high requirements with tension and finesse as well as minerality and saltiness.
"Tausendweiss" means 1,000 bottles (in bouteille, magnum and double magnum) for each of its country. The limited edition is only available in top restaurants and selected specialist wine shops.
