This winery in Navarre, brought back to life in 1988 by the Chivité family, the oldest wine-growing family in the region with a history of over 400 years, has already received the highest consecration of Spanish wine culture with its rebirth, the status of "Vino de Pago". This highest quality level, which could perhaps be compared to that of a Grand Cru, has so far been reserved exclusively for 17 wineries. Propiedad Arinzano is the only winery in northern Spain that can boast this distinction. This refers to a very special 128 hectares of vineyards covering a total area of 300. A winery has been specially dedicated to this ennobled vineyard, where monks have been growing grapes for 1000 years. It was developed by star architect Rafael Moneo, who is also responsible for the Prado in Madrid and the Moma in Stockholm. In this cellar, the latest cellar technology has not been spared, although pumps have been left out. The must and wine are moved with the help of gravity. Arinzano's vineyards are located on an outstanding terroir with ideal climatic influences, the interaction of which has been appreciated by many generations of winemakers. Cool winds and the river Ega provide moderation when temperatures are too high and give the grapes a long ripening period. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay are cultivated alongside the Tempranillo, which is typical of the region. From the entry-level wines to the two "Gran Vino" white and red wines, the wines are of a very high standard and therefore offer the greatest pleasure for discerning wine lovers.
