Tenuta Castello di Morcote is a 150-hectare estate situated on a promontory in Lake Ceresio. The soil here consists of pink porphyry, a quartzite of volcanic provenance. The winery has been owned by the Gianini family for three generations. The main varieties grown on the seven hectares of terraced vineyards are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Further south, in Mendrisiotto, a further six hectares are cultivated.
