The Frühwirth family in Klöch sees itself as a company between tradition and modernity, between profound craftsmanship and contemporary technology. Authentic, unmistakable wines that show their origins are the most important concern of the Frühwirth wine growing family. The best way to get to know them is in the cozy tavern.
The designation "Koasasteffl", the family's nickname, is given to premium wines with a strong and full-bodied character, whose grapes undergo a strict selection process and are sometimes fermented and matured in barriques. The top red wine is called "Roter Koasasteffl" and is matured in a special sandstone cellar. In addition to the existing flagship varieties of Klöch, Traminer and Gewürztraminer, the already forgotten variety of Traminer, Gelbe Traminer, is increasingly being planted again.
The soils on the Hochwarth are volcanic. This strong red soil and the dark basalt ensure that the many days of sunshine also have an effect at night by transferring the stored daytime heat to the vines. Traminer loves this perfect terroir.
The wines are presented in a special way in the Frühwirths' new "wine theater". The vineyard itself acts as a stage for the wine, where not only can the wines be tasted, but the volcanic soil is also visible and tangible. The old tree press and the vaulted cellar with its glass wine racks in the newly renovated Kellerstöckl are also admired. Since 2021, the winery has been a member of the "Eruption" winegrowers, who not only produce great "Eruption" wines, but also classify their best sites accordingly and market them in a controlled manner.
