Markus Fries is featured in our guide for the second time since 2024, and we are impressed by his return: you can tell from the wines that they are prepared in the vineyard with great care and a clear vision. The ripeness of the grapes translates into rich, full flavors that also give space to minerality. In the “Großen Gewächs” from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr, this rises to pure hedonism. The (still) little-known Maringer site “Auf der schwarzen Lay” is also exciting. We are raising the rating to two stars and see significant upside potential.
