Falstaff Wine Guide Italy 2022/23

The Kreithof below the Leuchtenburg ruins in Kaltern is the heart of the Nicolussi-Leck winery. The farm dates back to the 13th century, but the wine cellar - built into the hillside on several levels - is ultra-modern. Jakob Nicolussi-Leck cultivates six hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 350 meters. The optimal exposure is complemented by a mild climate, a constant southerly breeze, warm, loamy sandy soils and, last but not least, the family's expertise. In the 2010s, this led to the decision to vinify the farm's own grapes themselves. The 2017 vintage was the first to be cellared at Kreithof.
