Werner Morandell is one of the organic pioneers in South Tyrol. He has been practising organic viticulture on his Lieselehof farm in Kaltern for decades. Since the beginning of the millennium, Werner Morandell has also been working with fungus-resistant varieties and has had great success with Bronner, Solaris and Souvignier Gris. For some years now, Werner Morandell has been actively supported in the winery by his two sons.
The family-run winery is located at the foot of the Mendel Mountains. Around 35,000 bottles of wine are produced annually from the six hectares. The vineyards of the Lieselehof extend from 220 meters above sea level up to 1250 meters just below the Mendel Pass. One of the most extraordinary wines in Italy, the "Vino del Passo", is produced there from the Solaris variety. For the "Julian Orange", the Bronner grapes are fermented on the skins and then matured in wooden barrels. For the "Sweet Claire", Werner Morandell uses dried Bronner berries, which are processed into a delicious sweet wine.
