The red wine 50 & 50 IGT, vintage 2009 from the winery Avignonesi has been rated in 2014 with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Merlot from the region Tuscany in Italy.
Rich, bright ruby colour with a slight garnet hue. Intense nose with pronounced savoury notes, some cinnamon, then lots of dark cherry, some fresh plum, blackberry, inviting and clear. Initially a little hesitant on the nose, dark cherries and pomegranate, but picks up steadily as it progresses, opens up with rich, dense tannins, firm drive, still a little high wood content on the finish.
