Tasting Notes
Dark ruby garnet with purple reflections and a touch of brightening at the rim. An attractive black berry nose, backed by fine toast and tobacco aromas and hints of chocolate. The palate is balanced, with fine cassis underlaid by caramel and a mineral backbone. Well-integrated tannins contribute to a fresh structure. Ripe cherries emerge on the finish. Already showing some maturity, with certain further ageing potential.
More about the tastingVery dark, dense ruby red. Dark fruit and fine roasted aromas on the nose, spicy notes, very ripe cherry fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for 87 percent, Merlot for ten percent and Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc for the remaining three percent. Very ripe fruit on the palate, dense, soft and sweet, dense texture and structure, velvety ripe tannins, long finish and lingering aftertaste - according to Paul Pontallier, the densest and most tannic Margaux since 1986, but with more fullness and fruit.
