The pét nat Pet-Nat Pinot Blanc & Chardonnay, vintage 2016 from the winery Staatsweingut mit Johannitergut has been rated in 2018 by Ulrich Sautter with 90 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the region Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany.
This has a typical pét-nat colour like a naturally cloudy apple juice. There are floral and nutty aromas, with an undertone of dried apple slices. It has a very fine silky and voluminous mousse, and is comparatively sweet, with discreet sufficiently supportive acidity. It is slightly less complex on the palate than on the nose due to the dominant sweetness, but unquestionably it is very original and successful.
