The white wine Forst Ungeheuer Riesling, vintage 2020 from the winery Weingut Andres has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points.
Subtle on the nose, with a balsamic note and some wood savouriness supporting ripe yellow fruit and lemon zest. Apple peel, fennel, meadow herbs, hops, caraway all emerge with air. Restrained fruit on the palate, instead the focus is on great mineral savouriness and salinity with a delicate acidity and fine phenolics which create real tension. This is clear, focused and complex - a long-distance runner, with very good ageing potential.
