The red wine Zweigelt Ried Ungerberg, vintage 2017 from the winery Weingut Markus Iro has been rated in 2022 by Peter Moser with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Zweigelt from the region Burgenland in Austria.
It has a dark ruby colour, with purple reflections, and a delicate bright rim. There are aromas of lovely dark berry confit, black cherry, and discreet orange zest, it is a fresh but still somewhat shy bouquet. It is complex, juicy, with a hint of fig, integrated fine tannins, subtle nougat, some minerality, and persistence. It has definite potential, and will benefit from further bottle ageing.
