Copenhagen is transforming harbour bathing into an architectural landmark with the upcoming Water Culture House on Paper Island.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architecture firm Kengo Kuma & Associates, the project combines wellness, design, and public waterfront life in one of Europe’s most innovative cities. Rising directly from the harbour, the building’s distinctive pyramid-like brick structures will create a striking new destination for swimming, sauna experiences, indoor and outdoor bathing, and year-round water culture.

The 5,000-square-metre facility will also feature wellness amenities, community spaces, meeting rooms, and training facilities, further strengthening Copenhagen’s connection to its waterfront.

More than a bathhouse, the Water Culture House is set to become the city’s next wellness icon—a place where architecture meets ritual, where the city meets the sea, and where waterfront living becomes an experience.

The project is expected to open in 2026.
