Helsinki’s Restaurant “Teller” Expands Next Door with a Wine Bar
Helsinki’s acclaimed Restaurant Teller spins a new chapter next door with Tales Wine Bar—a storyteller’s haven for wine, character, and spontaneous evenings, opening January 20.
One of Helsinki’s top dining destinations, Restaurant Teller, opens its sibling Tales Wine Bar on January 20, 2026—located just steps away in the same former bank building.
From the team of Teemu Laurell and Lennart Sukapää, who launched Restaurant Teller to instant acclaim just a few years ago, Tales Wine Bar promises a distinct personality amid the city’s proliferating wine scene. The name plays cleverly on “Teller”—meaning both bank clerk and storyteller in Finnish—positioning the newcomer as a venue for great stories, served alongside carefully chosen wines.
While Restaurant Teller requires advance bookings, Tales Wine Bar will reserve space for walk-ins alongside reservations (available from January 21), sharing a kitchen but with its own dedicated prep area. Non-alcoholic wines round out an inclusive list. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Arkadiankatu 14, it joins a Helsinki trend of restaurant-wine bar pairings, following pioneers like Muru and Kuurna.
Expectations are sky-high for this storyteller’s outpost—a wine bar defined by character, not convention.
