With the all-electric EX60, Volvo marks a pivotal step in its transition to electric mobility. Unveiled in Stockholm at Artipelag, the new midsize SUV brings together Scandinavian design, long-range performance, and advanced technology in what stands as one of the brand’s most important launches in recent years.

When Volvo unveiled its new all-electric SUV, the choice of setting was deliberate. The global premiere of the Volvo EX60 took place at Artipelag in the Stockholm archipelago—a setting where architecture, nature, and Scandinavian design exist in quiet balance. Surrounded by water, rock, and Nordic light, the EX60 was presented as a reflection of those same values: clarity, restraint, and purpose.

Positioned as Volvo’s new fully electric midsize SUV, the EX60 stands as one of the brand’s most important launches in recent years. It builds on the familiar proportions of the Volvo XC60, reinterpreted through a distinctly electric lens. The design is confident without being assertive, defined by a low front, gently sloping roofline, and tapered body sides that balance form and aerodynamics.

Subtle innovation defines the details. Traditional door handles have been replaced by a flush, integrated solution along the window line, activated via a discreet interior button—a quiet gesture that underscores the car’s intuitive, contemporary character.

Efficiency is where the EX60 makes its clearest statement. With a range of up to 810 kilometers in all-wheel-drive configuration and fast-charging capability adding up to 340 kilometers in just ten minutes, long-distance electric driving becomes both practical and effortless.

Inside, the atmosphere is deliberately calm. Natural materials, finely grained wood, and wool-blend upholstery create a tactile interior inspired by the Nordic landscape. “We don’t just observe nature from a distance,” says Sara Erichsen Susnjar, Senior Color & Material Design Manager at Volvo Cars. “We study how materials age, how colors interact, and how light moves—and translate that dialogue into the interior.”

Built on Volvo’s new SPA3 architecture, with the battery fully integrated into the structure, the EX60 benefits from improved balance, reduced weight, and increased efficiency. It is also the first model to introduce HuginCore, Volvo’s new central computing platform, designed to enable faster processing, advanced AI, and continuous over-the-air updates.

In the EX60, Volvo presents a vehicle where design, technology, and usability meet in measured equilibrium—and where electrification feels as refined as it is inevitable.
