Strawberry Margarita

Spirits

Strawberry Margaritas provide the ultimate summer refreshment on balmy evenings.

Ingredients
500 g fresh strawberries
240 ml Tequila made from 100% agave (silver or reposado)
150 ml fresh lime juice (from 5-6 limes)
2-3 tablespoon(s) agave syrup, sugar cane syrup or honey
60 ml Cointreau
coarse sea salt or sea salt flakes
  • Rub a lime wedge along the rims of four Margarita glasses (or tumblers) and turn them upside down in a bowl of coarse sea salt or sea salt flakes.
  • Place the cleaned and hulled strawberries with the liquid ingredients in an electric blender and blend until smooth. Sweeten as needed.
  • Leave to sit for about three minutes and skim off the foam that forms during blending with a small sieve. Meanwhile, fill the salt-rimmed glasses half full with ice cubes.
  • Divide the Strawberry Margarita Mix between the four glasses, garnish with a slice of lime and strawberry and serve immediately.

Tip:

Silver or reposado Tequila is a matter of taste. If possible, make sure to use a high-quality tequila made from 100% agave. 

For an authentic taste, use freshly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled juice. You can also omit the sweetener, as ripe strawberries contain enough natural sweetness. 

For a frozen version, use frozen strawberries that have been briefly thawed instead of fresh ones or add a handful of ice before blending.
