The red wine La Tâche Grand Cru AOC Monopole, vintage 1978 from the winery Domaine de la Romanée-Conti has been rated in 2016 by Peter Moser with 98 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Pinot Noir from the region Cote de Nuits in France.
Deep garnet, with ochre reflections and a broad and bright rim. On the nose, there is a fine caramel sweetness underlaid with dark berries, delicately spicy and floral with black truffle, some undergrowth and candied tangerine zest in the background. The complex palate is fruity with firm, supporting tannins, dense, with fine chocolaty nuances, showing great length, absolutely on point for a decade, but has the potential for further ageing. More about the tastingMedium carmine garnet, purple core, ruby reflections, broad ochre rim. Typical nose of truffles, sweet caramel notes, in the background some dark berries. Juicy on the palate, delicately raisiny nuances, full-bodied, sweet and opulent, very firm tannins, shows immense length, a grandiose presence in the finish, with a dacapo of nougat and truffles. Simply beguilingly great wine, absolutely on point. Happy whoever owns this wine or even just drinks it. (store/drink/+25).
