Chocolate “Sausage”

The Christmas cookies with the unusual name "chocolate sausage" are the favourite recipe of our Austrian online editor-in-chief's family.

Bernhard Degen

For the chocolate sausage:

Ingredients
2 egg yolks
100 g sugar
150 g softened butter
2 tablespoon(s) cocoa
2 tablespoon(s) rum
200 g butter biscuits, crumbled
  • In a bowl, mix the egg yolks and sugar throughly.
  • Add the butter, cocoa and rum.
  • Finally, mix in the crumbled biscuit.
  • Shape into a sausage-like roll, wrap in cling film and chill.
  • Slice into pieces and arrange on a plate.

Tip:

The chocolate sausage freezes well for future use.
