Bangkok hotel sets Guinness World Record with largest Negroni cocktail
A new five-star hotel in Bangkok has set a Guinness World Record for the largest Negroni that contained over 630 litres of cocktail.
On September 12, mixologists at the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok Hotel set a Guinness World Record for the largest Negroni cocktail by mixing up 210 litres each of gin, Campari and Rosso Vermouth in a huge container surrounded entirely by ice. The feat shattered the previous record by more than 125 litres, according to Guinness adjudicator Kazuyoshi Kirimura.
To break the record, the ambitious hotel team constructed a special 1.4 x 1.7-metre container that weighted roughly 400kg to hold the iconic Italian cocktail and pumped 630 litres into it. Local media Thai News added that the conventional 10-ounce old-fashioned glass used to serve a Negroni beverage could pour an astounding 2,130 cocktails within the next couple of months. In order for the cocktail to be certified, the drink cannot be discarded, it said.
According to Guinness World Records, the previous record-breaking Negroni was made by Sheldon Wiley and Joey Maggiore’s The Sicilian Butcher (both US) in 2018 and was served in a 550 litre barrel, which measured 1.06m long and 0.96m at its widest point.
