London: Ikoyi opens at The Strand on December 12

The restaurant with two Michelin stars closed its former location at St James’s in October.

Ikoyi opened in 2017 and has become one of London’s top addresses with its spice-themed cuisine based on British vegetables, fish and beef, combined with spices from sub-Saharan West Africa. After five years in St James´s, – the final dinner service there was on October 26 – December 12 will see Ikoyi welcome guests to its new home at 180 The Strand on London’s Northbank, with a dedicated entrance on the corner of Surrey Street. With a larger restaurant and kitchen space, Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale want to focus on the future evolution of their restaurant. The core identity of Ikoyi will remain “a true form of global modernism,” the co-founders said.

The new kitchen will give Jeremy and his team an extended room to develop their menus further. There is also a unique, vast wine selection, including classic wine regions and lesser-known areas; a non-alcoholic tea pairing can be enjoyed solo, or mixed with chosen wines. The restaurant will also offer a private dining space that can accommodate up to six guests and offer a more interactive experience with Jeremy Chan and the kitchen team. Chan and Hassan-Odukale commissioned the Danish architect and designer David Thulstrup to help create a cohesive union of all spaces; Ikoyi will be Thulstrup’s first hospitality commission in Britain.
