Decimo at The Standard celebrates Cinco De Mayo

Decimo chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias will welcome chef Fernando Hernández from Moyuelo in Puebla, Mexico.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is famous not only in Mexico but also in the US and the UK.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, restaurant Decimo at The Standard, London, will host a special event on May 5, from 5pm: its Michelin-awarded chef, Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, will welcome chef Fernando Hernández from Moyuelo in Puebla, Mexico for a one-night dinner. The chefs will create a collaborative five-course menu, taking inspiration from traditional Pueblan dishes with Spanish and Mexican flavours and cooking techniques; highlights include a Beef fat & preserved lemon oyster, followed by Steamed & pickled mussels in adobo, Burnt plantain enmolada with confit duck and finally, a dessert of Pumpkin seed ice cream and wafers.

Guests can also order Casamigos Tequila cocktails, including a welcome signature Casamigos Tommy’s Margarita served on arrival, and listen to live salsa music. Dancing will also be possible if they are in the mood: a one-off late-night Salsa club will open in the restaurant from 11pm.

Moyuelo has been named one of the most exciting culinary hotspots of Mexico. Fernando Hernández has been working at Martín Berastegui in San Sebastián, where he was part of the team that helped the restaurant to its third Michelin star. With his own restaurant, Moyuelo shows his skills with traditional Pueblan cooking. Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias oversees the menu at Decimo, cooking over live fires with seasonal ingredients.
