Ultimate Safaris offers self-drive vehicles

The Namibian travel company is tapping into the rental business and making a fleet of Toyota 4x4 vehicles available.

Ultimate Safaris, a safari operator in Namibia, is launching a number of self-drive safari vehicles, with the company saying it is responding to the demands of its customers. Travellers want uncomplicated vehicle rental and the company aims to ensure that guests no longer face queues for rental vehicles at the airport, or have to deal with the varied extra charge options when using different car hire companies.

The Ultimate Safari fleet consists of Toyota Hilux Double Cab 4x4 (two to four passengers) and Toyota Fortuner 4x4 (two to three passengers) vehicles; all are fitted with an electric fridge which is connected to the ignition and free in-vehicle WiFi, which functions in all areas where there is 3G+ cellular coverage.

The vehicles have automatic transmissions and are equipped for standard self-drive safaris but not camping safaris. There will be one daily rate regardless of the vehicle type and rental duration, but high and low season rates will apply.

Rental vehicles will be handed over at Windhoek accommodation establishments, and will usually be combined with a detailed safari briefing. Cars will be collected from the last night’s stay venue, but they can also be returned to the airport at no extra charge, if necessary.

Founded in 2008, Ultimate Safaris specialises in naturalist safaris for individuals and small groups.
