Norwegian lamb stew: Fårikål

The Norwegian lamb stew consists of just four ingredients.

Ingredients (4 servings)
1.5 kg of lamb (on the bone, cut in pieces)
1.5 kg of cabbage
2 tablespoon(s) of black pepper corns
4 dl of cold water
salt
  • Sear the meat in a pan. Cut the cabbage into wedges. Layer meat and cabbage in a pot.
  • Toast the pepper corns in a frying pan to extract the aromas before adding them to the pot.
  • Pour the cold water into the pot, then season with salt.
  • Leave to simmer for about 2 hours (use a lid) or until the meat begins falling off the bones.
  • Serve with boiled potatoes.
