The "Mura" is located in a small side street at the end of Zurich's Seefeld district. When you open the narrow door of the small restaurant, you are immersed in a quiet oasis of pleasure - far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. A maximum of 14 guests can be seated at the simple wooden tables. The atmosphere is quiet and very intimate, as the room is small. The evening is accompanied by classical Japanese music. The yuzu bellini is the perfect way to start the evening. And then the first course begins: flambéed salmon stuffed with rocket, surrounded by delicate lemon jelly - served in a pretty pink bowl. It continues with fine dishes, fish and meat of the highest quality. The purist classics are particularly impressive. Three hand-picked sushis: with flambéed salmon, gamba violetta and tuna belly. Then the juicy pork spare ribs with an irresistible marinade. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the matcha-infused soba noodles with three kinds of wagyu. Kenichi Arimura normally changes the menu every one to two months. These noodles have outlasted all the menus and have become a signature dish. Anyone who bites into the al dente noodles knows why. To finish, there is a refreshing yet sweet ume sorbet, accompanied by a mochi made from sake kasu, a by-product of sake production, filled with a slightly sweet bean paste - a small delicacy. Served with fresh fruit, not really seasonal, but fitting. When you leave the "Mura", you take something with you - a deep sense of relaxation that lingers until you go home to bed. Even if chef Kenichi Arimura doesn't cook at star level (anymore), a visit to "Mura" is definitely worthwhile.
