The "Villa Winzerpark" is a house with a history. The Thomi family (yes, the ones with the famous Thomy mustard and Mayo tubes) once resided here. The pool has now disappeared, as has the furniture. Instead, the premises were extensively renovated and the "Villa Winzerpark" opened in 2021 under the management of Martial Kastner. The name suggests that wine was grown here many years ago. Today, the name pays tribute to this fact, but vines can only be found in the form of the 300 different items in the charming wine cellar, which can also serve as a dinner venue. Otherwise, guests dine in the Thomi family's former living room with a view of the terrace and garden. Head chef Martial Kastner learned classic grande cuisine in Alsace. The cuisine is accordingly French in style. The amuse-bouche of cream and melon with onions balances sweet and savory masterfully. The bread served comes from the farmer next door, with butter and pink pepper. I am particularly fond of the house classic, the perfect Allschwil organic free-range egg with summer truffle, airy espuma, pecorino and candied onions. Then autumn gradually arrives: the mushroom ravioli in a light sauce au vin jaune with truffle is creamy without being heavy. If you want to go for specialties, have a Chateaubriand carved at the table - dramatic moments like these keep the guests of the "Villa Winzerpark" coming back for more. The sweet finale is a French classic: crème brûlée with vanilla, flanked by an orange-prosecco sorbet - sparklingly refreshing.
