Falstaff Wineguide Germany 2021

The vines are still young – the oldest planting dates to 2006. Yet the yield from these relatively new vineyards already delivers depth: Daniel Twardowski is a shooting star when it comes to Pinot Noir winemakers on the Mosel. He even declared his vineyards in the Dhroner Hofberg as a completely Riesling-free zone and only grows Spätburgunder. That it has no trouble ripening is amply evident in both of his 2018 wines, where we happened to like the fleshy-fresh wine without site designation a little more than the slightly broader single-site wine.
