The Josef Weger winery can look back on a long history. It was founded in 1820 by the ancestor of the current owner. Josef Weger was one of the pioneers of the South Tyrolean wine industry. Back then, he was already supplying his wine to Switzerland and the various countries of the Austrian Empire. Today, Dr. Johannes Weger is the sixth generation to run the winery. The vineyards of the Wegerhof are located in the immediate vicinity of the cellar in Girlan at 435 meters above sea level. In the cellar, the tried and tested meets the new; with temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and cold maceration after gentle pressing, the quality of the grapes from vineyards up to 600 meters above sea level is preserved as well as possible. The "Maso delle Rose" line was created with Johannes Weger. The name is based on the Weger family coat of arms, which depicts a rose. Johannes Weger presents a whole range of top wines in this line. Guests and visitors are well looked after at the winery. In the evening, you can sample the gastronomic delights of the estate's own "Winestube" and then spend the night in the cozy vacation apartments in a newly adapted old building dating back to the 14th century.
