Neu in unserem Sotiment ist der „Gwäss“. Der Name wurde von Gouais Blanc eingedeutscht und ist die erste namentlich erwähnte Rebsorte überhaupt (13Jhd). Im Wallis wird er seit dem 16 Jahrhundert angebaut und ist ein wahrer „Arbeiterwein“. Er enthält wenig Alkohol, dafür aber viel Säure, ist also ein toller Durstlöscher. Er ist quasi der Don Juan unter den Reben. Der Guoais Blanc oder eben Gwäss ist ein ertragsstarker Kraftprotz und Urahn von vielen heutigen Rebsorten. Wir finden, der „Gwässriämu“, wie er in Varen genannt wird, ist ein ehrlicher, frischer und direkter Wein, der nicht in Vergessenheit geraten soll und auf ganz spezielle Art seinen Charme versprüht – ein Revival auf hohem Niveau!

The intense bouquet is characterised by tarry notes, wet stone and the scent of fresh herbs, with some ripe melon too. Lots of life on the palate thanks to powerful acidity and fine fruit core. A hearty specialty to be enjoyed with mountain cheese and dried meat.
