Tasting Notes
Incredibly deep colour with delicate tawny reflections and a deep core, does not give any indication of its age. Delicate herbal savouriness, a hint of strawberry, some cassis and mint, with hints of nougat and mandarin zest in the background. Medium-bodied on the palate, red berry flavours and a fresh structure, wonderfully balanced, a hint of heart cherry on the finish, shows itself to be in great condition after almost 100 years, concluding an extensive vertical tasting directly at the château, whose cellar the bottle has never left. The certain ageing potential of a good Bordeaux is and remains unrivalled. Henri Lurton's grandfather, Léonce Récapet, acquired Château Brane-Cantenac in 1925. (PM, Drinking, tasted Sept. 2025).
