The sweet and dessert wine Château d'Yquem, vintage 1995 from the winery Château d'Yquem has been rated in 2018 by Peter Moser with 95 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape varieties Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc from the region Sauternes in France.
Deep shiny yellow gold, subtle silver reflections. Ripe yellow tropical fruit aromas underlaid with fine lanolin nuances, pleasant honeyed touch, candied orange zest, hints of caramel and maquis. Powerful and complex on the palate, the sweetness is underpinned with subtle nuances of blood orange marmalade, fresh ginger, displays a fine acidity, rather opulent but persistent style with sure further ageing potential. Has now shed its baby fat, is still a dessert in its own right.
