Tasting Notes
Strong ruby, good depth of colour, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine wild blackberry confit, underpinned with nuances of Perigord truffles and a hint of candied violets, dark sweet cherries, tobacco and precious wood. The palate is taut, very tight-knit, fine fruit, firm, somewhat edgy tannins, good acidity, a wine still very youthful in magnum format, a magnificent Pétrus, marked by minerality and spice. Definitely has future ageing potential.
More about the tastingMedium ruby garnet, lightened color core, delicate watery rim. On the nose, dried plums, hints of goudron (tar), Périgord truffles, damp leaves, not too attractive bouquet. Fresh acidity on the palate, delicate notes of cherries and oranges, medium length, very closed. Overall, not a great Pétrus, nor a typical Pomerol, with notes more familiar from the Left Bank. Its better days are certainly behind it.
