The red wine Contrada Diciassettesalme Etna Rosso DOC, vintage 2021 from the winery Cottanera has been rated in 2023 by Othmar Kiem & Simon Staffler with 91 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Nerello Mascalese from the region Sicily in Italy.
Brilliant ruby red. On the nose there are first notes of mustard seeds, dried rose petals, raspberries, ripe cherries and subtle resinous tones, reminiscent of plaster on the aftertaste. Hearty on the palate with tightly woven tannins, punchy, stoney, finishing with polished red fruit, currently still a bit unbalanced.
