The red wine »DER« Spätburgunder trocken, vintage 2020 from the winery Markgräfler Winzer eG has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 92+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Spätburgunder from the region Baden in Germany.
Fine savoury aroma, chalky savouriness, subtly peppery, clove, cinnamon, tobacco, light and dark wild berries, pomegranate, cherries, blood orange, thyme, dark chocolate. Firm and taut on the palate, fine-grained, slightly drying tannins, delicate acidity, still subtle in the fruit and with certain ageing potential for the coming years.
More about the tastingOn the nose, the chocolaty wood is quite vivid, but there are also intense burgundy-berry aromas, blackberry, also tobacco. The palate is fleshy, highly compacted with ripe barley, the supple base and the fruit give balance.
