The white wine »Idée« Viognier trocken, vintage 2022 from the winery Pieper Basler Weingut has been rated in 2025 by Ulrich Sautter with 93 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Viognier from the region Baden in Germany.
Rich yellow-spicy profile on the nose with kitchen herbs and hints of ripe citrus fruit in the background. Also pine needles and coffee notes. On the palate with a lot of power and creamy structure, dense and demanding, here more ethereal-spicy aromas emerge with fennel and aniseed. Excitingly structured, a great accompaniment to French bouillabaisse, for example.
More about the tastingButter cake and mandarin sorbet on the deep, savoury nose, fine wood spice, allspice and yellow curry. Substantial on the palate with finely-meshed tannin, almost chewy, fruity core, ripe acidity, lots of savouriness and mineral backbone. Long finish.
