The white wine Reyneke Reserve White, vintage 2020 from the winery Reyneke Wines has been rated in 2022 by Anne Krebiehl MW with 96 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Sauvignon Blanc from the region Stellenbosch in South Africa.
Two parcels within two single estate vineyards make up this wine. The most subtle hints of spicy grapefruit peel and pith lead to a creamy, savoury, herbal aromas that also seem to have a real scent of wet pebble. Fermented in up to 60% new barrique with a very light toast and spends 13 months in oak, yet this is a study in subtlety. It is on the mid palate that the real explosion happens: hazelnut and passionfruit unite agains a backdrop of lime and lemon zest. Beautiful concentrated lends exquisite texture. A serene line of freshness illuminates everything. Exquisite, impressive and lasting, yet subtle.
