The sweet and dessert wine Geisenheim Rothenberg Riesling Auslese, vintage 2002 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Rheingau has been rated in 2022 by Ulrich Sautter with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Rapeseed yellow in colour with still green undertones. The nose is opulently yellow fruited: with aromas of dried apricot and Mirabelle plum, blossom honey. On the palate, a steely Rheingau acidity dominates over sweet texture and fruit, with strong tactile mineral components additionally slimming down the impression of the structure. A full-bodied wine - still a long way from the end of its journey.
