The sweet and dessert wine Rüdesheim Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese, vintage 2023 from the winery Weingüter Wegeler – Gutshaus Rheingau has been rated in 2024 by Ulrich Sautter with 93+ Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Riesling from the region Rheingau in Germany.
Initially, somewhat closed on the nose, then notes of blossom honey, sweet apricot, peach, stewed Mirabelle plums, candied orange peel and a background savouriness. Intense and rich on the palate, supported by fine acidity, complex, grippy and very tightly woven, with an underlying minerality, notes of pineapple and a long finish. Definite ageing potential.
