The white wine Kalkoven Sylvaner, vintage 2017 from the winery Weingut Collective Z has been rated in 2018 by Ulrich Sautter with 94 Falstaff points. It is a wine made from the grape variety Grüner Sylvaner from the region Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany.
Total SO2 30 mg/l. Straw-coloured with reddish shimmer. Some cider notes, but also herbs, sage, lavender, sorrel, chervil and candied peach. On the palate it's almost bold, but with a playful balance of richness, ripe, long-lasting acidity and a hint of sweetness that gives the fruit lift. Nothing showy, doesn't stray far from convention, and is still very much its own thing.
